Before and After: West Coast Master Bedroom

Our living room is finished and it finally feels like home! Living in a rented space, we're still getting used to not knocking down walls, wiring up custom lighting circuits, or taking on any large structural alterations. We just painted over the beige walls with Cloud White in Ulti-Matte and started decorating. It's definitely a change for us, but that's apartment living!

I've been missing our cozy, mid century living room back home, so we decided to inject some mid century feels into our Vancouver spot. Stepping away from our normal monochrome palette, we opted for the Jane Bi-Sectional from Gus Modern in Velvet Midnight. We were so excited to find this couch was part of the Loft Series (slightly smaller versions of their regular couches). It fits perfectly in our tiny space! We love that the walnut legs match the coffee table and TV cabinet. The wood really brings warmth into the space and reminds us a little of our slat wall back in St. John's. We paired the blue velvet and walnut wood of the sectional with matte black accents, gold accessories, and a cream wool rug from SAM Design.

When designing this space, we really wanted to incorporate St. John's and Vancouver. I found the Vancouver map at a local store and, to my surprise, the company actually makes a matching St. John's version that we were able to order online!

I have been dying for a living wall, and seeing tons of them at IDS the other weekend really solidified it for me. I found this adorable wall pocket planter at a local Vancouver shop. It's waterproof on the inside and you just water the back panel, how neat is that? I might have a slight obsession with plants.

I picked up this North Shore candle made by local company Vancouver Candle Co. I wish smell-O-vision existed because the scent of this candle is delicious and you need to experience it. A little woodsy, I love it!

I am not usually one for quotes and such, but I just about died laughing when I came across this perfect quote pillow from Society 6. After I pulled myself together from laughing way too hard, I hit purchase. High five Words Brand, you did well.

We ordered some wood canvases from a local art supply store, flipped them around, and pinned our maps to the back side using wood top push pins. We like the way the edges of the canvas backs make their own frames.

Another big leafy green, picked this guy up at Home Depot. Gonna have to use Sabrina Smelko's guide to caring for plants on this one.

Chris and I love to cuddle up and watch movies, so lots of blankets and pillows are a MUST. I picked up a cute wire basket from my new fav local store Welk's to store an extra thick blanket and cuddly log pillow for movie nights. 

And of course, no good media room would be complete without a big TV. When I said we liked to watch movies I was serious! Movies, TV Series, YouTube streaming to the TV. ALL OF IT! We just finished 6 seasons of Game Of Thrones and are looking for another show to binge watch; what are you watching?
