About
Hey! We’re Becki and Chris,
We’re a married couple from Newfoundland, Canada currently living in Buffalo, NY! We met in high school art class (it’s been a MINUTE) and spent our teen years running around St. John’s taking photos and shooting videos of BMX, punk rock shows, and everything in between. Our relationship’s always involved pixels and lenses!
Chris took a more traditional route in life and decided to become an interventional radiologist (a doctor who specializes in minimally invasive procedures using image guidance). He spent virtually his entire 20’s studying medicine. He couldn’t stay away from creating though, and kept shooting and doing creative projects in his spare time which helped fund his camera addiction. The skills he developed aided in the creation of our YouTube channel.
Myself on the other hand (hi, it me, Becki! I run all the stuff around here), I went a little less traditional with my career. I dropped out of university and enrolled in a two year graphic design program. When I graduated, I worked at a marketing company for two years before leaving and starting my own freelance design/photo company called Bold Creative. We bought a house, renovated it (see the blog), moved to Vancouver so Chris could finish his final year of training, and then life threw us a curve ball. We ended up finding ourselves moving to America. Buffalo, New York (WHO IS SHE? WE DON’T KNOW HER?). We embraced the change with an open mind, and now here we are two years later, updating this website we created in 2011 so we can share new stories from the place we now call home.
You may have seen a flying bubble in our videos and on our IG feed, that’s the Millennial Falcon, our Robinson R44 Raven II (2007 model). The weird thing about doing this Internet thing for so long is looking back on life and seeing what weird and wonderful ways your life flows. We added the MF’er to the family in September of 2018; you can watch that journey here. Recently we took our biggest trip yet and flew the helicopter back to Newfoundland and produced our first ever travel series called Cold Island.
Becki
I’m an interior design obsessed, pixel loving photographer whose love for good visuals runs deep. I take care of the majority of our social media accounts including the filming/editing of our YouTube videos and managing our photo club Pixel and Lens. I ran my own marketing company for eight years doing freelance graphic design and photography until we moved to Buffalo, NY.

CHRIS
As a diagnostic and interventional radiologist, I interpret medical imaging as well as perform minimally invasive, image guided procedures. I’m also a helicopter pilot with commercial ratings in both Canada and the USA. I enjoy making YouTube videos with my wife Becki for our channel Becki & Chris.

Ok, now that the introductions are out of the way…
What’s Our Niche?
Spoiler… we don’t really have one. BUT if we were to stuff our content into four boxes they would be:
HOME
Our OG content! You can find tons of home before and afters and DIY projects on our blog.
Travel
We love travel and typically document our trips over on our YouTube channel. You can see a scattered few travel posts on the blog too.
Flying
Speaking of travel, we do talk about flying helicopters sometimes! Yes, the Millennial Falcon is part of our fam jam.
Visuals
Design, packaging, photography, a good color scheme… anything visual we LOVE! But we also teach photography and video tutorials on our YouTube channel.
Wait, Slow down
how did this all happen?
Ok, lets go back to when we actually started creating content for the Internets.
June 2011
It was 2011, a young HGTV obsessed Becki and Chris had just bought their first home in St. John’s Newfoundland. Ok scratch this third person shit… so we bought our first house. It was a 1980s split level house that had not been updated. EVER. It was PERFECT! We had intentions of doing some minor updates, paint, furniture, art, but somehow on the first night in our new home, we started tearing down walls in the kitchen.
Over five years, we ended up transforming our house from top to bottom ourselves, learning new skills along the way. Every room has at least one DIY project in it, each meticulously documented here on the blog.
June 2016
Fast forward to 2016, Chris was finishing up his residency and took a year long fellowship position at University of British Columbia. If you don’t know where Newfoundland is, you couldn’t pick a province FURTHER away than BC. I was PUMPED! I had never been to Vancouver before, and I had always wanted to see what it was like to live away from home.
One year in Vancouver meant no home renovations or DIY projects as we would be renting, so we didn’t really know what would happen to the blog. We decided then and there to start a YouTube channel to document our one year in Vancouver to hold us accountable for making the most of our finite time there.
We packed up our stuff, shipped our car (Tiggy) to Montreal, and started our epic road trip spanning from Quebec, down into the US, and all the way to Vancouver.
Our year in Vancouver started out incredible. We managed to create some home decor content for the blog, but we also started making weekly vlogs for YouTube and I fell IN LOVE with video and the city alike. We went on adventures every weekend, despite Chris being exhausted from working the crazy hours fellows have to take on during their training. Chris also learned how to fly helicopters and got his licence!
QUE CURVE BALL
March 2017
We were preparing to move back to Newfoundland where we had planned to build a cabin and jump back into home content when Chris found out his contract got cut and he no longer had a job in Newfoundland. You can watch that entire story here. We were absolutely devastated at the thought of not being able to move home. We picked up the pieces and Chris applied for jobs all over the US and Canada, eventually finding the perfect job in Buffalo, NY.
We left Vancouver, stopped by home for two months, and got married!
Then we took all of our belongings and moved to
Buffalo, New York!
After our move to America, we really went full on into YouTube and as that started to grow we left the blog for the vlog, focusing on making more videos every week.
September 2018
Shortly after our move, the Millennial Falcon came into our lives and our content took a slight turn deeper into travel (but this time in a helicopter)! We purchased and flew the Falcon home in September of 2018, and in January 2019 we thought it was time to go back to our roots and do a little renovation… helicopter edition! Ok, that’s an exaggeration, we did get a makeover but it was NOT a DIY.
Since then, we decided to set down roots in Buffalo and bought our second house.
Present Day 2020
It’s almost coming full circle; we just started renovating our new house (slowly - we learned from the last one) so you should be seeing more of that home improvement content pop up soon!
Ok, so that’s it! Our journey thus far minus a few details, milestones, and stories but you can find all those on our YouTube channel.
