Demolition: Tear Up Photos

The day we received the keys to our house I REALLY wanted to sleep there the first night. The previous owners didn't give us any info on their alarm system and, us being newbies, we forgot to ask about it. Chris's mom came over to see the house and on her way out she ended up accidentally leaning against the alarm system panel and setting it to away mode. As the countdown timer started, we panicked and didn't know what else to do but run out of the house and lock the doors. Our real estate agent couldn't get ahold of the sellers, so we ended up having to "break in" to our house and try to disarm the system with no code. After about 15 minutes of the siren going off, we ended up finding the corresponding breaker and flipping it, then tearing the system off the wall and disconnecting the backup battery. In the end we got to sleep in our new home the first night. We also added "new security system" to our to-do list, one that you couldn't disable just by ripping it off the wall!

The next day we started taking the kitchen cabinets out and by day five we already had the whole kitchen torn apart. We removed the dividing wall between the kitchen and dining room and ripped out the stucco ceiling.

We dove in to everything pretty quickly, not only starting the kitchen but tearing up the basement, living room and stairs. We turned the first floor family room into a makeshift kitchen (fridge and microwave) and used the front porch for storing tools. Here is a collection of photos of the construction zone we lived in for the first 6 months.
